10-week consecutive block. No credits or refunds for missed sessions.

A structured evening of drawing from a nude model, moving from short poses into longer held poses. The session is designed to keep the eye alert and the hand responsive, giving you a mix of quick decisions, sustained looking, and regular practice in a calm studio setting.

Because the pose lengths change across the evening, Tuesdays are especially useful for testing observation, proportion, rhythm, and economy. It suits artists who want to keep their drawing alive, loosen up, and build confidence through repetition rather than labouring over a single study.

For a portfolio, it helps you build a broader range of figure drawings that show fluency, sensitivity, and consistency across different pose lengths.

  • Format: Structured studio practice
  • Session length: 3 hours (evening slot).
  • Model time: ~2 hours of posed time within the session (allowing for breaks + reset).
  • Model Continuity: Different model every week
  • Pose structure: A mix of short poses (e.g., 5–10 mins) and longer poses (up to ~45 mins), with timed breaks.

Each week follows the same shape: short poses → short break → medium/long poses.

Timings are approximate and may flex for model comfort.

Over the block you’ll get a rotating mix of:

  • Short poses (roughly 4–10 poses of 4–5 minutes)

  • Medium poses (typically 1–3 poses of 10–20 minutes)

  • Long poses (one or two longer poses, roughly 30–45 minutes total, sometimes split)

The structure is designed to give you both quick studies and at least one sustained stretch each session.

Included

  • Professional life model + hosted, timed session structure
  • Basic studio set-up: space, chairs/stools, and a limited number of easels (11)/boards  (12) – first come, first served

Not included

  • Paper / sketchbooks / drawing media

  • Any specialist equipment (mahl stick, wet panel carrier, etc.)

Is this for you?

Beginners are welcome — but this isn’t a class.
You won’t be taught or demo’d. You’ll get a clear short-to-long pose structure, a professional nude model, and a calm room to draw from life.

If you’re new:

  • Bring a simple setup: one pad, one drawing tool, one board if needed.

  • Follow the timers rather than trying to make every pose a “finished” drawing.

  • Use the short poses to loosen up and sharpen observation.

  • Use the longer poses to slow down, measure, and stay with the figure.

  • Expect to leave with a range of studies rather than one polished piece.

If you’re experienced:

  • Keep your eye and hand sharp.

  • Build volume in your figure studies.

  • Test line, tone, and mark-making approaches.

  • Maintain a regular weekly drawing rhythm.

The Studio

We are a 7 minute walk away from Lea Bridge Station. Our studio is situated with an Argall Industrial Estate. Please call or message ahead of arrival to ensure there is someone there to greet you.

No. The practice runs as a 10-week consecutive block. Drop-ins are not offered.
All levels are welcome if you’re comfortable working independently. Some experience drawing from the figure will help with longer sittings.
The practice continues regardless of attendance. Missed sessions cannot be refunded or made up.
The opening weeks use shorter poses, the central weeks focus on recurring long poses, and the final weeks resolve the block.
Not in a literal sense — the model and poses change each week. Most people treat each session as fresh practice and leave with a set of studies from that evening.
