Is this for you?

Beginners are welcome — but this isn’t a class.

You won’t be taught. Instead, you’ll get a clear structure, a reliable model, and a calm room to practise.

If you’re new, week 1 usually looks like this:
You pick a simple tool (graphite/charcoal), keep it basic, and follow the timers.
Short poses help you loosen up. Longer poses give you time to slow down and observe.
You’ll leave with a stack of studies and one or two more developed drawings from the longer poses.

If you’re experienced, people use it for:

  • Keeping a consistent weekly rhythm
  • Building a body of figure studies quickly
  • Testing materials, mark-making, and composition without pressure
  • Getting sustained looking time without a taught environment

Weekly Life Drawing is a ten-week, commitment-based studio practice for artists who want time, structure, and continuity — not teaching.

Each weekly session lasts three hours. The room is prepared together, two hours are spent working from a professional life model, and the session closes quietly. There are no drop-ins. The value of the practice lies in returning, week after week, to the same rhythm.

The practice follows a model-led continuity architecture. In the opening weeks, a range of shorter and mid-length poses establishes energy, balance, and a shared physical language. The central weeks return to a recurring pose held in long sittings, allowing attention to deepen over time. The final sessions resolve the block either through a last sustained pose or a return to shorter work, clearing the eye and hand.

There is no instruction, correction, or demonstration. Artists work independently, at their own pace, within a shared structure. You may choose to develop a single drawing across several weeks or begin anew each session.

This practice is suited to artists who value focus, repetition, and the quiet seriousness of a held studio environment.

  • Format: Structured studio practice
  • Session length: 3 hours (evening slot).
  • Model time: ~2 hours of posed time within the session (allowing for breaks + reset).
  • Model Continuity: Different model every week
  • Pose structure: A mix of short poses (e.g., 5–10 mins) and longer poses (up to ~45 mins), with timed breaks.

Each week follows the same shape: short poses → short break → medium/long poses.

Timings are approximate and may flex for model comfort.

Over the block you’ll get a rotating mix of:

  • Short poses (roughly 4–10 poses of 4–5 minutes)

  • Medium poses (typically 1–3 poses of 10–20 minutes)

  • Long poses (one or two longer poses, roughly 30–45 minutes total, sometimes split)

The structure is designed to give you both quick studies and at least one sustained stretch each session.
