Small portrait of Ms June Claxton Lefévre. Oil on 9mm birch ply panel with stretched linen and handmade fine marble dust ground.
‘Ms June Claxton Lefévre’ was the first of a small collection of paintings where I de-prioritised the drawing phase with a view to prioritise value and colour when using secondary resources. Unlike the other paintings in this short run, this was draw from eye with no projection method. This is by no means an impressionist painting as it is a copy from a photo, however I like to think there is an element of the impressionist painterly style to it. I love, for example, how the little orange hat pops against the subtle greyish flesh tones and the radiant green backdrop.
